Web development XHTML+CSS+JS

I create Websites. In other words I get your ideas off the ground and make them your very digital presence on the web. I write standard based HTML and CSS, building true cross-browsers behaviour with JavaScript. I got 8 years of experience in this area.

Ruby&Rails or Python&Django projects

When I need to build a web app, I fire my TextMate editor and code up something with Rails or Django. Ruby and Python are nice languages and thanks to them I can go from an Idea to a prototype in a few hours.

C# Coding + SQL

During my daily work I'm a systems integrator at Engineering Italia S.p.a. where I build & mantain C# applications that interacts with large SQL Databases, for a big Bank Group. This involves also Analysis and Versioning.

My history so far...

I’m your host, Daniele Spinosa a freelance, self-employed software developer. I spend most of my working time on Ruby on Rails and iPhone/iPad applications.

I enjoy developing, tinkering, delwing into Nasa Space Missions, Brain crashing about recents discoveries and growing my new family. I’m responsible for just about everything you see on this website that, by the way, isn’t one of those "boring-pretty-one-way-from-me-to-you" blogs about anything and nothing. In fact It won't be a blog ever!

I was Born in the sunny Island of Sicily, south Italy, I grew up in the beautiful city of Rome. I started working with computers in 1984 at home with a Olivetti PC and a Commodore 64, writing BASIC programs. After high school, I took a degree in IT engineering at University of Siena. My thesis was a design for a JavaScript tool called DynaViz, that supposedly let you visualize data coming from different sources, using Mind maps graphs on a website. I decided to make my IT knowledge more official, therefore I've spent 1 year in Venice where I took two Microsoft Certifications: MCSE and MCDBA. I moved to Siena, Tuscany when I married my wife Lucia.

In my spare time I've started assembling computers, building small networks and giving IT assistance for private people and small business. This quickly become a real work and in year 2000 I become the IT administrator of McQuay Italia S.p.a. (now Daikin) a 100 employees Air Conditionig Company Head Quarter. Since the company had agencies in Europe and US, I traveled a lot between those locations to create and mantain Virtual Private Networks and servers among them.

As an IT guy in a strong industrial background company I learned a lot about Systems Integrations. This way at the end of 2002 I was asked to being part of a little spin-off from that company focusing on building a remote monitoring system. After a year the first prototype was born. This was also the time when I become interested in Web Development. I decided to deepen my knowledge about software and programming in general.

I have been programing with various techonlogies/languages. As you can see above this text, in the sliding panels, I'm comfortable with C# SQL, XHTML-CSS, JavaScript and best of all Ruby on Rails and Python+Django. My actual employment involves hard C# development and this is what I do to "eat" but when I want to make profit with fun I start coding with Python or Ruby. I have also a big interest in Interaction Design and tinkering with Arduino and Processing a very nice platform for electronics newcomers.

Lately I started a new Job at Giunti O.S. mainly building internal tools. Previously until mid 2009 I was coding in C# & .NET at Engineering Italia S.p.a.

That's all about my professional side !

So if you are interested in hiring me please check out my resume and my protfolio (coming soon) and drop me a line.
